- Catermar - located at Boa Vista. Good selection of US
meat. Also has a bakery. Hours: Monday to Friday 08h00 to 17h30. Tel:

- ESKO (FINA) - Rua Gomes de Sousa. Membership is
required. Hours: Monday to Thursday 15h00 to 18h00, Friday 09h30 to 12h30
&15h00 to 18h00, Saturdays 09h30 to 12h00.
- Intermarket - Local currency
located just behind the Hotel Presidente Meridien. Own car park. Hours :
Monday to Saturday 09h00 to 18h00
- Jumbo - Local currency
A large supermarket located Av Deolinda Rodrigues off Largo 1 de
Maio. Own car park. Hours : Monday to Friday 09h00 to 18h00 and
Saturday 09h00 to 13h00.

Shoprite - New South
African supermarket selling mainly South African products. They have a
large variety and reasonable prices.
There are now outlets in Viana, Ilha do Cabo, Bairro Azul and at Belas
shopping center.
Prices are in kwanza and US
Dollars can be exchanged on site.
- SHRM (ELF) - Located in
the basement of the Elf Apartment block. Membership is required, with
advance an desposit in US dollars. Prices are in Euro. Purchases are
deducted from the credit balance. Many French products. Hours: Monday to
Friday 09h00 - 13h00 & 16h00 to 19h00, Thursday 09h00 to 13h00, Saturday
08h30 to 13h00

Local Markets
- Feira Artesanal da Beira,
is located 16 kilometres from Luanda along the Estrada da Corimba is open
on Saturdays and Sundays. At this open air market you can purchase
handmade crafts, baskets, sculptures, paintings wooden carvings, malachite
and ivory. Prices are negotiable. Remember not to purchase any animals
skins or ivory because you will not be able to take them back to South
Africa as these are not considered legal items. Be alert and take special
care of your personal items when walking around the market.
- Mercado do Peixe (Fish Market) - Located at the
centre
of the Ilha. Sells all kinds of fish and seafood, including prawns, crabs,
lobster, crayfish, octopus and deep water fish. Visit the market in the
afternoon to get the freshest catch of the day.
- Mercado Sao Paulo - Located at the
Largo Sao Paulo. Sells vegetables and household products.
- Roque Santeiro - Located on Estrada da Petrangol and
runs along the road for three kilometres. It is the largest and cheapest
market in Luanda. It is not recommended as it is dangerous for expats
especially if going there alone.
